UTANG AKWA IBOM ENDORSES DIGITAL ECONOMY MASTERCLASS, URGES ENTERTAINERS TO EMBRACE AINelson NseAbasi
The Senior Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor on Entertainment, Mr David Sergeant, popularly known as Utang Akwa Ibom, has thrown his weight behind the forthcoming 'Usoro Akwa Ibom Digital Economy Masterclass', urging entertainers across the state to embrace digital skills and emerging technologies.
The masterclass, which has as its theme “Culture to Capital,” is designed to equip participants with practical knowledge in digital skills and AI-powered video production.
Sergeant, who is also the International President of the Ibom Entertainers Forum (IEF) made the remark when he received the Usoro Akwa Ibom team, he said capacity building remains critical to the growth and sustainability of the entertainment industry.
He recalled that Governor, Pastor Umo Eno Ph. d had, during his address to entertainers at the 10,000-Man March in September last year, charged practitioners in the creative industry to develop their capacity and position themselves for greater opportunities.
According to Sergeant, the rapid transformation of the creative industry through digital technology makes continuous learning imperative for entertainers who want to remain relevant and competitive.
He therefore called on entertainment stakeholders, practitioners and creative professionals across the state to mobilise their members and take advantage of the masterclass.
The masterclass begins on Monday, September 14, and runs through Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Ibom E-Library, Uyo.
Interested participants are expected to register to indicate their interest and secure participation.
The programme is expected to expose participants to emerging digital tools, AI video production and practical strategies for converting creative and cultural assets into sustainable economic opportunities.
