Philkon Foundation has announced plans to host the second edition of Beyond the Crown Symposium, a mentorship initiative designed to inspire, empower and equip young women with the knowledge, confidence and opportunities needed for personal and professional growth.
The event, scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026, will commence by 2pm. at Ceedapeg Hotel & Suites, B Line, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Beyond the Crown 2.0 will combine a boot camp, conference, empowerment programme and awards ceremony to create a platform where young women can engage with experienced voices, build meaningful networks and gain practical insights to support their personal and career journeys.
In a statement signed by the Team Lead, Ambassador Princess Hilda Okon, on behalf of the organisers, she said the programme was designed to provide young women with an environment where they can learn, connect, discover opportunities and engage in conversations around mentorship, leadership, personal development and empowerment.
According to Hilda, “A crown is not merely what you wear; it is what you carry, what you represent and the responsibility that comes with it.”
She explained that the concept of the crown extends beyond traditional symbols of royalty or beauty, noting that it could represent a career or profession, business and entrepreneurship, leadership, beauty and pageantry, fatherhood or motherhood, creativity and entertainment, faith and service, community impact, or personal achievement.
The Team Lead, Princess Hilda Okon, is a Nigerian and indigene of Akwa Ibom State. A graduate of Mass Communication, she is a creative, actress, singer and humanitarian driven by a passion for learning, personal growth and making a positive impact.
Her journey in pageantry includes being crowned Miss Akwa Ibom Got Style 2017/2018 and Miss Akwa Ibom Tourism 2019/2020. Standing at 5.6 feet, she embraces simplicity, confidence and authenticity, while her personal philosophy reflects her belief that “true beauty is not in perfection, but in purpose, which is becoming a light that gently helps others find their way.”
Beyond the Crown is premised on the belief that the strength and value of a woman go beyond physical appearance or the symbolism of wearing a crown. The initiative seeks to encourage participants to understand their value, develop their abilities, build confidence and use their influence to create positive change within their communities.
The organisers have invited young women, students, entrepreneurs, professionals and members of the public interested in mentorship, personal development and empowerment to participate in the programme.
Another major attraction of the event will be the awards segment, which is expected to recognise individuals whose achievements and contributions demonstrate leadership, excellence, empowerment and positive impact, particularly beyond their official positions or primary assignments.
The maiden edition, held in 2021, recorded significant success and positive feedback. With its concept centred on helping young women move beyond limitations and discover their potential, the organisers believe Beyond the Crown 2.0 will provide participants with the confidence, knowledge and inspiration needed to take their place in society.
