FTAN Akwa Ibom Executive Committee inauguration holds today

The rescheduled Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN),Akwa Ibom State Chapter official inauguration of its newly constituted Executive Committee holds today in Uyo.


As part of ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening tourism development and stakeholder collaboration in the state,the State Coordinator of FTAN,Joseph F. Umoh,who announced the development,said the inauguration ceremony will now hold on Tuesday,May 26,2026,at Gladmann Hotel Premium,Ewet Housing Estate,Uyo,by 10:00am.


According to him,the change of date became necessary following the emergence of other important programmes involving several invited guests and critical stakeholders.

Umoh expressed regret over any inconvenience the adjustment may cause,while assuring stakeholders and invited guests of the association’s commitment towards hosting a successful and impactful event on the new date.


He stated that the inauguration ceremony will also feature a strategic discussion on the readiness of Destination Akwa Ibom,particularly in view of recent developments in aviation and tourism infrastructure projects within the state.



The FTAN Coordinator noted that the event is expected to bring together stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality industry,government officials,media practitioners,and tourism promoters to deliberate on pathways for advancing the tourism sector in Akwa Ibom State.


He described the inauguration as a major step towards promoting stronger collaboration among tourism stakeholders and enhancing the visibility of Akwa Ibom as a preferred tourism destination.


Umoh further emphasized the critical role of the media and strategic communication in shaping tourism narratives and promoting destinations,adding that the presence of media professionals at the event would further support efforts aimed at projecting the tourism potentials of the state.


Also supporting the initiative is FTAN Vice President,South-South,Faith-Esohe Essien,who reiterated the commitment of the association towards fostering partnerships that will drive sustainable tourism growth and improve destination competitiveness.


The event is expected to provide a platform for meaningful engagement on tourism policies,infrastructure readiness,destination marketing,and industry opportunities within Akwa Ibom State.
