Adelabu Unveils “Oyo Rebirth Agenda” in 2027 Governorship Declaration

Former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has formally declared his intention to contest the Oyo State governorship seat in the 2027 general election under the All Progressives Congress.

Adelabu made the announcement on Tuesday in Ibadan, outlining a development blueprint he tagged the “Oyo Rebirth Agenda.” The agenda, he said, is designed to restore, rebuild, reposition, and reclaim the state for what he described as genuine progress, prosperity, and people-centred governance.

Key Pillars of the Agenda

According to Adelabu, the blueprint will focus on:

- Local government administration and grassroots development to strengthen governance at the base level

- Modern security architecture and public safety to address rising concerns around safety

- Agricultural revolution to boost productivity and job creation

- Comprehensive social welfare, education reform, and health transformation

- Urban development, civil service reforms, and women’s empowerment

He stated that his aim is to reposition the state’s economy and create large-scale employment opportunities if elected.

Call for Party Unity

Adelabu emphasized that the project extends beyond individual ambition and requires collective effort within the APC. He urged party leaders, aspirants, stakeholders, and members to prioritize unity, discipline, and shared victory ahead of the 2027 polls.

“There is no progress without unity. There is no victory without solidarity,” he said, calling for collaboration among all party members to secure victory for the APC in Oyo State.

A Prepared Leader, Not a Perfect Man

Positioning himself as a prepared and service-driven candidate, Adelabu argued that governance must produce measurable development rather than remain at the level of rhetoric.

“I am contesting because I believe that for a better Oyo State, capacity matters, competence matters, character matters, compassion matters, and courage matters,” he stated.

Adelabu contested for the Oyo governorship in previous election cycles and served as Minister of Power under the current administration. His declaration marks the early buildup of political activity ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial race in Oyo State.

How do you see the “Oyo Rebirth Agenda” addressing the state’s most pressing challenges?
