A CALL FOR EQUITY:
ITU OMA ZONE AND THE QUEST FOR FAIR REPRESENTATION IN AKWA IBOM STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY SEAT 2027.
An Open Letter to His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
Your Excellency,
We, the indigenes and stakeholders of Oku Iboku, Ayadehe, Mbiabo, and the entire Itu Clan collectively constituting the Itu Oma Zone within Itu Local Government Area respectfully write to draw Your Excellency’s esteemed attention to a matter of profound political, developmental, and socio cultural significance.
For over twenty-eight (28) years, our people have endured what can only be described as systemic marginalization and political exclusion, particularly in relation to representation in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
Notwithstanding our considerable demographic strength, our historical contributions to state building, and our unwavering loyalty to successive administrations, the Itu Oma Zone has remained conspicuously underrepresented within the legislative architecture of the state.
This prolonged inequity calls for urgent redress to avoid future calamity.
Your Excellency, we are firmly persuaded that your administration embodies the core values of equity, justice, inclusivity, and participatory governance.
It is upon these noble principles that we humbly yet resolutely present our legitimate demand for the equitable concession of the State House of Assembly seat to the Itu Oma Zone.
This appeal transcends mere political aspiration,
it is a compelling call for restorative justice, institutional balance, and the correction of a longstanding historical injustice.
The favorable consideration of this just request will;
Reinvigorate public confidence in fairness, justice, and equitable power distribution within Itu Local Government Area.
Foster unity, cohesion, and harmonious coexistence among the constituent clans.
Provide our people with a renewed sense of inclusion, recognition, and active participation in the governance of Akwa Ibom State.
We wish to unequivocally emphasize that this appeal reflects the collective will and unified voice of the people of Oku Iboku, Ayadehe, Mbiabo, and the broader Itu Clan.
We remain law abiding, peace loving, and steadfast in our commitment to sustaining the prevailing atmosphere of peace, stability, and progressive development under your purposeful leadership.
We therefore earnestly appeal to Your Excellency, in your wisdom, statesmanship, and unwavering commitment to justice, to accord this matter the urgent and favorable consideration it rightfully deserves.
