The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Entertainment, Mr. David Sergeant, popularly known as Utang Akwa Ibom, has urged entertainers to cultivate a culture of strategic investment in order to achieve long-term sustainability in the entertainment industry.
He gave this charge on Thursday, March 26, 2026, during the maiden edition of the Uyo Talent Management Masterclass, held at Dueua Hotel & Suites in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Addressing participants at the event, Mr. Sergeant emphasized the importance of financial discipline among creatives, noting that income generated from entertainment should not be spent impulsively but rather invested wisely to secure future stability. He stressed that the unpredictable nature of the industry makes it necessary for entertainers to plan beyond immediate success.
The masterclass attracted a cross-section of budding artistes and emerging talent managers with strong prospects in the entertainment sector. Participants were exposed to practical insights on talent development, management, and sustainability within the creative ecosystem.
In his presentation, the host of the event, Mr. Nelson NseAbasi, highlighted the critical role of administrative structures in the growth of talents. He noted that the presence of competent managers and administrators is a prerequisite for success, as they provide the strategic direction and organizational support required for talents to thrive.
The event recorded the participation of over twenty attendees, all of whom received certificates of participation at the end of the session, marking a significant step in their professional development within the entertainment industry.
