Jubril Arogundade, a former senior executive of CIG Motors, has issued a formal statement clarifying the circumstances of his departure, following recent media reports and public statements that misrepresented his exit as a termination.
Mr. Arogundade confirmed that he voluntarily resigned from his position on December 2, 2025, fully in line with his contractual obligations and internal procedures. He said his resignation was submitted in writing, acknowledged by management, and accompanied by an agreed notice period and exit plan.
He emphasised that portraying his departure as a termination is incorrect and does not reflect the true sequence of events.
“I resigned from my position at CIG Motors after careful reflection and in line with due process,” Arogundade said. “It is concerning that my voluntary exit has been mischaracterised. I believe strongly in transparency and professionalism, and I am compelled to set the record straight.”
Reasons for Resignation
Arogundade explained that his decision was informed by long-standing concerns about corporate governance, financial discipline, and regulatory compliance. Over time, he raised these matters through the proper internal channels, consistent with his responsibilities as a senior executive and his commitment to ethical business practices.
The key issues he cited included persistent governance gaps, lack of adequate internal controls, an unsustainable debt profile driven by repeated borrowing without long-term planning, and unresolved regulatory and compliance matters.
He said stepping away was guided by principle and professional responsibility, particularly where continued involvement could conflict with his personal standards of corporate accountability.
“As a Nigerian professional, I take governance, compliance, and institutional responsibility very seriously,” he said. “When internal efforts did not yield the necessary corrective action, I chose to resign rather than compromise on standards fundamental to sustainable business.”
Response to Allegations
Arogundade categorically denied any allegations of financial misconduct, stating that he has nothing to hide and welcomes any lawful, independent review of his conduct.
He clarified that he has not been contacted by any law enforcement or regulatory agency regarding the claims and remains fully available to cooperate should any legitimate inquiry arise.
“I have conducted myself with integrity throughout my career,” he said. “I am confident that any objective review will affirm this.”
