DTONY EKE NLA – Biography
Fagboyegun Anthony Tope, popularly known as Dtony Eke Nla, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter whose passion for music began at a very young age. Born on March 5, and currently 36 years old, Dtony started his musical journey at the tender age of 8, where he was well known in his community for freestyle performances. Despite his obvious talent, he lacked the opportunity and support to showcase his gift on a larger platform during those early years.
Born and raised in Ondo State, Nigeria, Dtony Eke Nla later relocated to Lagos State, where his music career began to take a more defined shape. He officially stepped into the music industry in 2016 with the release of “Stay With Me”, under a music group known as D’ Zenithalz, alongside fellow artist 2NapG. After the group disbanded, Dtony rebranded himself as DTONY EKE NLA and pursued a solo career from 2017.
Around this period, he moved to Lagos and worked as a Mobile Police Officer, where he was attached to Wale Tinubu, the Managing Director of Oando Oil Company. While serving, Dtony actively sought opportunities to connect with established artists. In 2018, he briefly met Wizkid at a club, though the interaction was limited due to being on official duty. He was also fortunate to visit Davido’s residence, though the artist was unavailable at the time. These experiences, coupled with industry challenges, led to discouragement, career stagnation, and significant personal stress.
In 2023, Dtony Eke Nla made a powerful comeback with the release of “Somori”, a track that gained traction across various music platforms and marked a turning point in his career. This resurgence paved the way for consistent releases and steady growth in the industry.
In 2024, he dropped multiple tracks including “Rondo,” “Mujo,” “Itelorun,” “Apology,” and “Follow Me.” He also collaborated with Isolate on “Owo Money,” which was officially released in 2025.
The year 2025 has been a particularly active and productive phase for Dtony Eke Nla. He released several projects back-to-back, including an EP featuring “Touch and Stay” (original and remix), “Ewa Ile,” “Opin Ato,” “Touch Me,” and “Bakan.” He further released singles such as “Supernatural” and “Tunkulu.”
His latest EP features tracks like “Birthday Girl,” “Ewa Ife Logba Logba,” “Shalewa,” “Happy Birthday,” and “Spirit of Love,” a project dedicated to Tinunola, a woman he holds deep affection for. Other notable releases include the EP “Love & Ambition” and the single “Make I No Die.”
Over the years, DTONY EKE NLA has performed at numerous music concerts and events, and his songs have been featured and promoted in several Nigerian DJs’ mixtapes, further cementing his presence in the industry.
With resilience, consistency, and a growing catalog of music, Dtony Eke Nla continues to carve his path as a rising force in Nigerian music.
