Mary Slessor Heritage Project is set to host the 3rd edition of its annual Twins Fest, a three-day celebration at Ibom Hall,Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, from November 27th to 29th, 2025.
The event honors the legacy of Scottish missionary Mary Slessor, who saved twin children from death in Nigeria. According to Ambassador Offiong E. Akpan, Chairman of the foundation, Twins Fest 2025 is part of the "Two Lives, One Hope" global campaign, focusing on remembrance, reconciliation, and dignity.
The event features cultural education, storytelling, and immersive experiences, aiming to restore dignity and promote cultural understanding. Highlights include the Declaration of Global Twin Day, launch of a film series, the 2Lives Challenge, TwinsFest Impact Gala, and Mary Slessor Cultural & Children's Trust Launch.
TwinsFest commemorates the 19th-century twins infanticide in Nigeria and brings together twins and those of multiple birth worldwide to identify with counterparts lost to superstition.
The event is endorsed by the Akwa Ibom State Government. The commissioner for culture and tourism,Dr Anieti Udofia and revered theatre scholar,Prof Effiong Johnson are expected to grace the occasion,while twin music star, Davasol brothers are billed to thrill guests at the event.
