National Coordinator of Neighbourhood Coalition,a burgeoning support group of the All Progressives Congress,APC Hon. Emmanuel Enang has called for spirited commitment of the public in support of the quest by the present administration to recover all public assets taken illegally.
Enang who spoke on heels of report of illegal concession and acquisition of some Government Assets,said "whether through prayers or public opinion and solidarity,the time has come to show support and solidarity to this Government's quest to save the state from further drifting into a Sole Proprietorship.".
According to him,such solidarity and support which should be made public will only encourage the Government to do more for the masses.
"The saying that evil thrives when good people keep quiet is altruistic;which in other words,means that evil vanishes when good people speak up against it.
"It therefore implies that when more Cross Riverians rise up and condemn the idea of converting public assets for personal use through either illegal concession or through outright seizure and fiat,a precedence will be set against such tendency or occurrence in future," he maintained.
The Neighbourhood Coalition Leader however condemned the illegal concession and acquisition of some public facilities, stating that it is detestable and disgusting.
"Without prejudice to the ongoing investigation by the Committee put in place to recommend recovery measures,I will like to state here that it is detestable and disgusting to realise in the end that public assets were taken without recourse to overriding public interest but on personal grounds.".
He mentioned that public sentiments and activism must be strongly made against such acts even as it should encourage the Government to do more of such in the best interest of the public.
Enang poured encomium on the State Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Otu for the bold steps to return the state to its pride of place adding that so far he has proven his administration's People-First mantra creditably well.
"Within the last one month,Sen. Otu has proven that he means well for the people of Cross River State as enunciated in his People-First mantra. "Indeed,we are grateful to God that at a time Cross River had drifted into a Sole Proprietorship,God sent Sen. Otu to return it to its pride of place as a Canaan of sort, where all are stakeholders in the benefits;the literary milk and honey that flow in the land.''.
He prayed for protection,sound health, strength and divine insight for the Governor, to enable him succeed in the administration of the state.
