Winners of the maiden edition of "Onna Next Music Star" Competition have all received their cash rewards from Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, through the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Youths & Sports, Sir Monday Uko.
The trio of Rachael Godwin (Rich Girl), Armstrong Clement John (Armstronger) and Divine Davies (Tujay) recently emerged winners in the maiden edition of the music competition and were presented dummy cheques on Christmas Day 2022.
The highpoint of the day was the announcement of a N5 Million Naira prize for 11 year-old Queen Bliz, who won Governor Udom Emmanuel's Special Award, following her breathtaking performance.
The cheque presentation was made on Monday, February 6th, 2023 by the Special Assistant to Governor on Entertainment Industry, Mr David Sergeant (Utang Akwa Ibom) on behalf of the Governor and Sir Monday Uko.
"Onna Next Music Star" competition is a music talent hunt sponsored by Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Youths & Sports as a model of a grassroots youth-talent development initiative.
The winners who received cash prizes included:
Rich Girl (1st position) Armstronger (2nd position) and Tujay (3rd position) who won for themselves 3 million, 2 million and 1 million naira, respectively in the music contest for Onna indigenes.
However, Armstronger, who was initially announced as the first runner-up, was demoted to 3rd position, thereby moving Tujay to the 2nd position.
The winners in their separate responses expressed gratitude to God, Governor Udom Emmanuel and Sir Monty for their benevolence.
They promised to use the funds to improve their musical careers as charged by Utang Akwa Ibom during the presentation.
