Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga Lives On


As part of activities to mark the 35th Anniversary of the state's creation, the Statute of Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga (Rtd) erected at the state secretariat complex was unveiled today.


It is worthy of note the state secretariat complex which is named after the Late Air Commodore Nkanga was built during his administration as military administrator of Akwa Ibom.


Governor Udom Emmanuel represented by his Deputy, Mr Mose Ekpo, MFR, unveiled the statue in honour of the Late Nkanga who was also  first Indigenous Governor of Akwa Ibom State. 


The statue is a replica of the former governor. It is made from fibre glass and finished in gold. It sits at the water fountain in the traffic circle at the Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat, Uyo.


The event aslo had in attendance, Members of the state executive council, the Head of the Civil Service, Permanent Secretaries, Directors from the Civil Service amongst others.
