TOURISM COMMISSIONER INAUGURATES IBOM ENTERTAINERS FORUM, CALLS ON ENTERTAINERS TO BE HUMBLE

The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Culture & Tourism, Rt. Honourable Orman Esin has charged entertainers in the state to remain humble despite fame and stardom.

The tourism boss gave the charge in Uyo on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Edinan Hotel, during the inauguration of the pioneer chapter executives of Ibom Entertainers Forum, hosted by the special assistant to governor on entertainment industry, Mr David Sergeant (Utang Akwa Ibom).

Ibom Entertainers Forum is an umbrella body of entertainment industry practitioners across the state, with the vision to create a liaison channel for entertainers across the state. According to Utang Akwa Ibom, 'the inauguration is a build up to the formal inauguration of the state exco of the forum on Wednesday, September 14th during the forthcoming Ibom Entertainment Week'.

The ceremony was well attended by guests, veteran and revered entertainers, including the special assistants to governor on social orientation & international president of Mkpo Ama Change, Hon. Ekpeno Gold, on project monitoring; Godfada Uko, Moses Umoren, Eno Williams, former Vice Chairman of Mkpat Enin local government area, Hon. Eno Williams, Vice Chairman of Uruan local government area, Princess Uduak Akpan the highpoint of the day was the remark by 80 years old Uncle JB, who got a standing ovation, after he warned entertainers against non-challance at their duty post.

In his remark, Hon. Orman commended Utang Akwa Ibom and Godfada Uko, describing in glowing terms their efforts in galvanizing the entertainment industry, he identified the secret behind their success in office to be humility and charged other entertainers to emulate them.

The commissioner gave the coordinators, and members of the chapter executives the mandate and right hand of fellowship to lead the body in their respective local government areas.

Speaking further on the forthcoming gubernatorial election, Mr Esin said all the Akwa Ibom sons and daughters contesting the 2023 gubernatorial election are all qualified and entitled to their right to contest, but one cannot take for granted the anointing on the head of Pastor Umo Eno, according to him 'God has appointed Pastor Umo Eno and we must follow him.

"We all remember the history of Cross River, when Governor Donald Duke was governor and the impact he had on tourism and entertainment, today in Akwa Ibom State, we have been presented with an opportunity to have Pastor Umo Eno as the gubernatorial candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to take over from Governor Udom Emmanuel, he is a hotelier and hospitality practitioner, as entertainers, we should not let this pass us by.
