Cross River State Commissioner for Culture & Tourism Development, Honourable Eric Anderson on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 paid a condolence visit to the Mkpanang family in Ukanafun, Akwa Ibom State, to commiserate with them over the demise of their daughter & sister.
The commissioner's entourage had the special assistant to Cross River State governor on entertainment, Effiom Bassey and his consultant, Mr Felix Uyah.
In his remark, Hon. Eric said the condolence visit was pertinent, owing to the personality of the artist and public servant, Mr Aniekpeno Mkpanang, who is currently the permanent secretary of the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Culture & Tourism, to grief with him on the loss of his sister.
Understanding the bond of the relationship with the bereaved, Mr Anderson recounted several kind gestures of Mr Aniekpeno to him and his team of creatives over a decade ago, long before his appointment as Commissioner, acts of kindness which left indelible marks in his career and life's experience.
Responding, the emotional Mr Mkpanang expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Mr Anderson for journeying the miles to console him at a time like this. He commended him for the good job he is doing in the tourism industry in Cross River State, referring to the successes recorded to be as a result of having a square peg in a square hole.
In conclusion, he assured the commissioner of future collaboration between the two states, in view of harnessing and promoting the tourism potentials shared in common.
The Mkpanang's family compound in Ikot Akpa Nkuk is already a beehive of activities ahead of the interment which is fixed for Friday, February 25, 2022, as guests are expected from all parts of the world.
