The Member Representing Abak/EtimEkpo/Ika Federal Constituency, Hon.Elder Aniekan Umanah in collaboration with the National Productivity Centre, (NPC), flagged off another round of Skills Acquisition Training and Empowerment Programme for his constituents.
Flagging off the 5 day event at the Independence Hall, Abak, the Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Lawmaker said the programme which is in support of Governor Udom Emmanuel's food sufficiency agenda, if given proper attention it deserves by beneficiaries will provide business hub that will stimulate their economic lives as well as change the social economic status of their communities.
The federal lawmaker, who was Represented by Hon. Eseme Essien, said the instructors, trainers and the entire crew selected for the excercise were carefully selected as experts in their respective field, noting that skills education is the way to go in the 21st century.
He said skills offered at the training will prepare beneficiaries to become job and wealth creators as well as contribute to the development of the Federal Constituency.
Hon. Umanah urged participants of the training and empowerment Programme to open up their minds and be receptive to whatever piece of instructions and guide that will be given to them in the course of the training as it is designed and packaged for the purpose of pulling them out of idleness and poverty into wealth.
Addressing the participants, State Director of National Productivity Centre, Dr. Ambrose Obhiokhenan(KSM) noted that skills empowerment is the way to go given that government cannot provide job for everyone. He said that with skills empowerment, individuals have the capacity to provide for themselves,and have a secure future. He commended Hon. Umanah for the passion towards the development of his people at all times.
Perfoming the official flag off, wife of the Member Representing Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency, Diamond Lady Dcns. Maureen Umanah commended the federal lawmaker for his commitment and dedication to the service and development of his people, adding that the programme will prepare the beneficiaries to be independent, self reliant and be solution providers. Dcns. Umanah urged the beneficiaries not to take the training for granted but ensure to get all the benefits it will provide.
Recall that in 2020, Hon. Umanah trained and empowered more than 300 people in fishery production in addition to his free medical and surgical outreach where over 400 persons were given medical attentions and hundreds given free surgery.
The Hon. Member had few months ago empowered hundreds with vehicles, tricycles, motorcycles, sowing machines, etc in addition to his 300,000 naira business and agricultural Empowerment to over 400 Constituents.
Stakeholders from the federal Constituency in their different goodwill messages commended the Hon. Umanah for bringing Quality Representation and massive empowerment to the federal Constituency and urged beneficiaries to utilize the opportunity given for the growth and development of their communities.
