CALABAR HERITAGE AWARDS RETURNS SUNDAY, DR AYADE EXPECTED
The wife of the Governor of Cross River State, Dr Lynda Ayade is expected to grace the occasion of the Calabar Heritage Awards by the convener of Mkpanighi- nighi movement, who have announced plans to host their annual event to recognize and celebrate the rich culture and heritage of Efik people.
The announcement was contained in a release made available to the press on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 Pre-Covid, stating that ‘the cardinal objectives of the event include but is not limited to deepening the awareness of culture amongst the old and younger generation, by increasing cultural interest ‘.
Unfortunately, the outbreak of the Corona Virus pandemic had suspended the plans, but the conviction has made MC Senator and his partner Slai Shows to reschedulle the ceremony, which will witness the showcase of existing and rising achievers, especially those with track records to show significant contributions to the development of community and states.
The progenitor of Calabar Heritage Awards, Edem Effiong Bassey popularly known as MC Senator, had painstakingly hosted the award ceremony and cultutral fiesta for the last five (5) years, the 6th edition which was fixed for Sunday, April 13, 2020 will now hold on Sunday, April 25, 2021 enjoying the professional event management service of Famehouz production to cook up a wonderful presentation.
In a chat with Famehouz entertainment boss, Sylva Bogbo, who is the creative director on the project, he mentioned that Calabar Heritage Award being viable brand, is not a concept to play with, a whole lot of difference from what it was in previous years will be obvious. Although maintaining same venue (Transcorp Hotel Ballroom), Mr Sylva hinted that a lot of work is in the offing to create a befiting ambience and amusing content for the ceremony.
‘ The ingenuity of MC Senator’s style of comedy is unique, using Efik-Ibibio to crack ribs over the years has built him a brand and earned him a spot on the microphone at major events in the state and beyond ‘, Sly stated, ours is to bring in the spice and add the colours.
Following years of dedication and consistence, the Mkpanighi-nighi organization has earned the blessings of great personalities on it’s advisory board; Etubom. Arc. Bassey Eyo Ndem, High Chief. Dr.Asuquo Ekpenyong OON, Engr. Bassey Nkposong and Hon. Ekpo Ekpo Bassey, they will scruitinize the nomination and selection of outstanding sons and daughters who deserves to celebrated.
