Akwa Ibom highlife king, Sir Wilker Jackson may sue oil giants, Exxon Mobil and NNPC for inclusion and promotion of his name and brand in the EXXON MOBIL/NNPC Joint Venture Community Beach Concert without due consultation and payment.
The information was confirmed in a chat with him while responding to inquiry about his absence at the concert which lighted up Ibeno Beach on Sunday, 12th May 2019, as part of their weeklong community development programme.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in partnership with Mobil Producing Nigeria had concluded plans to host a Community Beach Party at Ibeno Beach, several jingles and brand promotional materials were printed and aired.
Amongst the artistes billed for the gig, Mista Xto and Harrysong delivered a stunning performance to the yelling crowd, steering up their hunger to have more, fans were eager to savour the melodies of Sir Wilker and his highlife tunes.
In his response, Sir Wilker said having kept his schedule open, he was not contacted by the organizers and he didn't find it funny hearing the jingles on radio. According to him, 'Its not proper for companies to use artistes' name for promotion of their show without adequate conclusion and engagement', I see it as total disregard and such act should be addressed, he added.
Sir Wilker made it known that he had mandated his lawyer to take legal action within 3 working days if the oil giant fails to provide his due and an apology, failure of which may lead to prosecution.
Efforts to reach the company representative has been proved abortive as the event is said to have been handled by consultants.
